 Pitt has
earned the right to play in its 13th game of the season and is
headed to the BBVA Compass Bowl.
The Panthers will take on SEC foe Ole Miss on Jan. 5, 2013 in Birmingham, Ala.,
at Legion Field in what could play out to be one of the most competitive
matchups in the bowl lineup.
The contest
with Ole Miss pits two of the most storied programs in the nation, as well as
two teams that have shown significant improvement during the year. Ole Miss
defeated Egg Bowl rival Mississippi State, ranked 24th at the time, to
close out the regular season, while the Panthers won four of its last six games
in 2012.
The game will
be a national broadcast on ESPN on Jan. 5 at 1 p.m. ET. Fans interested in
purchasing tickets can visit the Panthers
Ticket Office website, or call 1-800-643-PITT (7488). Pitt student tickets
to the BBVA Compass Bowl are free with a valid Pitt Student ID (limit of one
free ticket per Pitt student). Students will be charged $15 if they do not pick
up their ticket on gameday.
Additional
information on the bowl and Pitt fan activities can be found at Bowl
Central.
