Pitt softball head coach Holly Aprile recently talked with Bill Hillgrove about the upcoming season and what Pitt fans can expect in 2014. The Panthers face a daunting start to the year including playing three of the final six teams in the 2013 Softball College World Series (Michigan, Tennessee and Oklahoma). Tennessee (Feb. 14 opponent) and Oklahoma (Feb. 9) played in the final with the Sooners coming away with the title.
Former Pitt men's basketball star Steven Adams is in his rookie season in Oklahoma City with the Thunder of the NBA and apparently he's been shopping for a house. Go along with him in this video compliments of NBA.com.
Former Pitt star and current Indianapolis Colts OL Mike McGlynn spoke to SportsRadio 93.7 The Fan's morning show on Tuesday and talked about his team in the playoffs and his feelings on Pitt head coach Paul Chryst.
"Coach Chryst is Pitt football at the highest level."
The Pitt football team recently received a proclamation from the City of Pittsburgh declaring "University of Pittsburgh Panthers Football Team Day" due to the team's involvement in cleaning up Pittsburgh's hillside communities. The work was done in conjunction with the city and the Hilltop Alliance.
The Panthers assisted in cleaning up the communities of
Allentown, Beltzhoover and Knoxville on March 23, 2013. According to the proclamation,
"the team combed the streets and climbed steep park hillsides to remove
unsightly litter and discarded items from public areas. The team collected 30
yards of debris, including 244 large bags of litter, four additional truckloads
of loose wood and building material remnants and 55 abandoned tires."
The proclamation was presented by the Mayor's office over the holiday break as the entire team gathered to help wrap and organize gifts for the Christmas Day at Pitt for those in need.
