Similar to the blueprint Pitt began cultivating in 2000 to entrench itself among the country's finest universities, Pitt Athletics is intent on doing the same from a student-athlete perspective.

The 2005-06 season brought changes to the Pitt wrestling program as it welcomed a new training facility located in the Fitzgerald Field House. The original wrestling room was built in 1951 along with the rest of the Field House, but hadn't been updated until that summer.
The new wrestling room is twice the size of the previous training facility and contains new floor and wall mats. In addition, the room is equipped with a new ventilation system and lighting. Adding to the facility is a video and recruitment room as well as a balcony suspended above the mats featuring new cardio equipment for additional training.
The wrestling facility was built as part of Pitt's "Quest for Excellence": The athletic department's initiative that was developed to enhance facilities and give student-athletes more scholarship opportunities.
