PITT ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:

Volleyball: Kate Yeazel. Yeazel was named the UConn Tournament MVP for leading the Panthers to a perfect 3-0 record in Storrs. The junior right-side hitter tallied a team-high 43 kills (3.91 kills per set) and hit at a .462 clip last weekend. In the Panthers’ five set win against UConn, Yeazel set new career highs with 17 kills and seven blocks. Through seven matches this season, Yeazel has recorded a team-best 84 kills. (Read More).

OTHER TOP WEEKLY PERFORMERS:

Women’s Soccer: Morgan Sharick. Sharick scored the game-winning goal against Toledo in the 42nd minute by heading home a Katie Lippert corner kick to give Pitt a 1-0 victory. The center back was also instrumental in helping the Panthers earn their fourth shutout of the season as Toledo was only able to manage three shots the entire contest. The Panthers are now 4-1-1 on the year. (Read More).  

Football: Tyler Boyd: In his first collegiate game, Boyd compiled 151 all purpose yards and led the Panthers with 54 yards rushing on three attempts. The wide receiver also caught two passes for 26 yards and returned three kickoffs for 71 yards. (Read More).

Volleyball: Jessica Boddy: The sophomore middle blocker had at least five blocks in every contest last weekend at UConn. Boddy totaled 16 blocks in the three matches and also contributed 17 kills. Through seven matches, Boddy is averaging 1.16 blocks per set. (Read More). 

Football: Devin Street: Street set a career high with 141 receiving yards against Florida State. The senior caught six passes and notched his seventh career 100-yard receiving game. Street is just two catches away from moving into fifth place on Pitt’s all-time receptions list and five more catches would move him ahead of Larry Fitzgerald and into third. (Read More).
