PITT ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:

Football: Tyler Boyd. The freshman wide receiver amassed 195 all-purpose yards against New Mexico and scored two touchdowns in a 49-27 victory. Boyd set a career high with six catches for 134 yards and a touchdown, and also added 39 rushing yards with a touchdown and 22 kickoff return yards. Boyd ranks second in the ACC and 16th nationally in all-purpose yards per game (173.0). (Read More).

OTHER TOP WEEKLY PERFORMERS:

Volleyball. Jessica Wynn: The junior outside hitter was named to the USF Invitational All-Tournament Team after leading the Panthers with 44 kills during a 2-1 weekend in Tampa. Wynn averaged 3.38 kills per set while hitting .327. She also added 21 digs and seven blocks to her stat line. Wynn has reached double-digit kills in eight of Pitt’s 10 matches this season and leads the team with 123 total kills. (Read More).  

Cross Country: Cullen Davis: Davis placed sixth overall at the Penn State Spiked Shoe Invitational last Friday with a time of 26:37. He was Pitt’s top finisher and the Panthers finished third overall as a team. (Read More).

Football: Aaron Donald: Donald tallied five tackles against New Mexico, including four tackles for loss and two sacks. The four TFLs tied a career high and he is now tied for the nation’s lead with 1.5 sacks per game. His five total TFLs is also tops in the ACC. (Read More).

Volleyball: Lindsey Zitzke: The junior setter was named to the USF All-Tournament Team after dishing out 71 assists (23.6 per match) and tallying 23 digs. In a five set victory against USF, Zitzke recorded a double-double with 27 assists and 10 digs. For the season, she has a team-high 213 assists and is fourth on the team with 64 digs. (Read More).

PITT PLAY OF THE WEEK:

Football. With seven seconds to go in the opening half, quarterback Tom Savage rolled to his right and launched a 34-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Boyd in the back of the endzone as time expired. That play gave the Panthers a 35-6 halftime lead.
