PITT ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:

Football: Tom Savage. The senior quarterback tied an ACC record with six touchdown passes in a 58-55 victory at Duke last Saturday. Savage completed 23 of 33 passes for a career-high 424 yards and six scores. His 424 passing yards was the fourth highest total in school history. For his efforts, he was named the Walter Camp National Offensive Player of the Week, the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback of the Week, and the ACC Offensive Back of the Week. (Read More).

OTHER TOP WEEKLY PERFORMERS:

Football: Tyler Boyd. Boyd had a career receiving day, setting top marks in receptions (8), yards (154) and touchdowns (3) at Duke. Boyd became the first freshman to catch three touchdowns in a game since Larry Fitzgerald in 2002, and was also the first freshman to have back-to-back 100+ yard receiving games since Antonio Bryant in 1999 (Boyd had 134 vs. New Mexico). For the second straight week, Boyd was named 247Sports National True Freshman of the Week, and he also garnered Athlon Sports Co-National Freshman of the Week (along with fellow Panther James Conner who rushed for a career-high 173 yards) and ACC Rookie of the Week. Volleyball: Delaney Clesen. The Pitt libero was named to the Pitt Panthers Invitational All-Tournament Team. Clesen finished the three game round-robin tournament with 65 total digs (4.64/set), including a career-high 27 against Morehead State. Clesen has a team-high 224 digs on the season (4.31/set). Cross Country: Rachel Brown. Brown won the St. Vincent Invitational in a time of 18:53.8. It was her first career win and she helped the Panthers take 2nd place as a team out of 10. (Read More).

Football: Devin Street. Street was named the ACC Receiver of the Week for his performance at Duke. The senior had six catches for a career-high 166 yards and two touchdowns. It was the first multi-touchdown game of his career, and the eighth 100-yard receiving game of his career. Street is leading the ACC with 129 receiving yards per game. (Read More).

PITT PLAY OF THE WEEK:

Football. With 2:03 remaining in the fourth quarter and Pitt leading Duke by three points, the Panthers were faced with a third-and-seven on the Duke 39 yard line. Tom Savage dropped back and floated a pass to Kevin Weatherspoon who made a diving catch by the Pitt sideline to move the chains and secure the 58-55 victory. (Read More).
