PITT ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Football: Mike Shanahan. Shanahan caught five passes for a career-high 144 yards in Pitt's 55-10 win over Gardner Webb on Saturday. He also caught two touchdown passes from quarterback Tino Sunseri, including a career-long 77-yarder in the third quarter. Shanahan also moved into 12th place on Pitt's all-time receptions list with 118 career catches. (Read more).

OTHER TOP PITT WEEKLY PERFORMANCES

Volleyball: Alexa Campbell. A Big East Honor Roll recipient, Campbell collected 45 total kills in the three matches, including a career-high 21 at Rutgers in a five set victory. The Macungie, Pa. native led the Panthers in kills in all three contests. She began her week by registering 10 kills and 12 digs at Duquesne, and followed that up with 14 kills and 10 digs at Seton Hall. Against the Scarlet Knights, her 21 kills were the most by a Pitt player this season and Campbell also collected 12 digs. (Read more).

Football: Tino Sunseri. The senior quarterback threw for 344 yards and three touchdowns and completed 18 of 24 passes in Pitt's 55-10 win over Gardner Webb. (Read more).

Men's Soccer: Nick Wysong. A freshman, Wysong scored two goals in Pitt's 2-0 victory over Robert Morris on Wednesday, Sept. 19. He leads Pitt with 12 points and five goals on the year. (Read more).

Volleyball: Monica Wignot. Wignot tallied 34 kills in three matches last week, and matched her season-high with 16 spikes against Rutgers. She also had 16 kills against George Washington in the first match of the season. (Read more).

PITT PLAY OF THE WEEK

Football: Ray Graham ran 78 yards for Pitt's first score on Saturday against Gardner Webb. Graham finished the day with 94 rushing yards on eight carries and one touchdown. (Read more).

PITT PANTHER WEEKLY NOTES

*The Pitt women's soccer team returns home this weekend as it hosts Villanova on Friday (7 p.m.) and Georgetown on Sunday (1 p.m.). Four of its final six regular season games will be played at Ambrose Urbanic Field.

*The Pitt men's soccer team enters its week with a 6-1-2 overall record.

*Cross country gets back into action this weekend it competes at the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh, Pa.
