A three-time first team All-American, Hugh Green stands as one of the most dominant defensive forces in the history of college football. Twenty-six years after his final collegiate season, Green remains Pitt's all-time sack leader with 49. Green's ferocious defense helped lead the Panthers to a four-year record of 39-8-1 over his career, highlighted by four bowl games and three Top 10 finishes. In 1980, Green took home the Lombardi Award, Maxwell Award and Walter Camp award. Even more spectacularly, Green finished second in the 1980 Heisman Trophy balloting, an unprecedented feat for a purely defensive player. Green was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the first round of the 1981 NFL Draft and would go on to play 11 years in the league. In 1996, Green's collegiate accomplishments were honored with his election into the College Football Hall of Fame.

You are bidding on Hugh Green's autographed, retired number banner that flew over Pitt Stadium. The banner is made of nylon and features "GREEN" and "99" sewn in the middle on a navy background. It measures approximately 58 ½ inches from top to bottom and 95 inches from left to right. His signature, number and year of induction into the College Football Hall of Fame are written in blue marker and located on the white "99". This banner serves as a great representation of Pitt's extraordinary college football tradition and bears the name of one of the most dominant defensive players to ever play college football.
