PITT ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:

Volleyball: Mechael Guess. Guess combined for 31 kills in two matches for the Panthers last weekend, including a career-high 21 kills against Virginia. Guess had 10 spikes in a win against Virginia Tech on Friday, and then recorded a career night with 21 kills and six blocks in a five set loss to Virginia. Guess averaged 3.88 kills/set and hit a solid .393 for the weekend. She ranks third on the team with 141 total kills. (Read More).

OTHER TOP WEEKLY PERFORMERS:

Cross Country: Michael Runco. Runco placed 26th in the Gold division at the Notre Dame Invitational last Friday. Runco posted an 8K time of 26:31.1 and was the top Pitt finisher for the first time in his career. The men’s team finished 11th in the Gold division out of 23 schools. (Read More).

Men’s Basketball: Cameron Wright. Wright scored a game-high 27 points in Pitt’s Blue-Gold scrimmage on Sunday, including the game-winning three from half court as time expired, giving Blue a 68-67 victory. (Read More).

Volleyball: Jessica Wynn. The junior outside hitter reached double-digit kills in both matches last weekend, and was one dig shy of notching two consecutive double-doubles. Against Virginia Tech, Wynn had a match-high 16 kills and added nine digs. Against Virginia, Wynn tallied 10 kills and 11 digs. She is leading the team with 207 kills on the season and has the second most digs with 149. Pitt is 11-6 overall and 3-1 in ACC play. (Read More).

Cross Country: Morgan Perry. The junior led the Panthers at the Notre Dame Invitational by placing 37th overall in the Gold division with a 5K time of 18:33.6. This was Perry’s first race as Pitt’s top finisher this season, and she helped the Panthers finish 10th out of 24 teams. (Read More).
