PITT ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Football: Ray Graham. Graham scored three touchdowns and finished with 180 yards of total offense (109 rushing/71 receiving) in leading the Panthers to a 47-17 victory over Temple Saturday at Heinz Field. (Read more).
OTHER TOP PITT WEEKLY PERFORMANCES
Volleyball: Monica Wignot. Wignot had 15 kills and a career-high 11 blocks to lead the Panthers to a five-set victory against DePaul on Sunday. For the weekend, Wignot hit a combined .465 with 24 kills and 14 blocks. She led the team in kills at both Notre Dame and DePaul. (Read more).
Women’s Swimming and Diving: Veronica Lee. Lee was victorious in the 100 and the 200 Yard Breaststroke against Virginia with times of 1:05.52 and 2:18.22, respectively. She has now won the 200 Breaststroke in each meet this season. (Read more).
Men’s Basketball: Tray Woodall. Woodall scored 16 points (7-14 FG) and dished out seven assists to lead the Panthers to a 69-54 exhibition win over Indiana, Pa. on Friday evening at the Petersen Events Center. (Read more).
PITT PLAY OF THE WEEK
Men’s Swimming and Diving: Adam Maczewski led off the men’s 200 Yard Medley Relay team that defeated Virginia by one tenth of a second. He also won the 100 backstroke with a season best time of 49.50. (Read more).
PITT PANTHER WEEKLY NOTES
*The Pitt cross country teams competed at the Big East Cross Country Championships last Friday. The women’s team placed ninth out of 15 squads and the men finished 12th out of 14 teams. Kayla Keddal led the women with a 49th place finish (23:10.18 time in 6k race) and Daniel Lipus paced the men’s team with a 53rd place finish (26:17.37 in 8k race). (Read more).
*The Pitt men’s soccer team completed its season with a 6-9-2 overall record. Nick Wysong led the Panthers with five goals and 13 points and Nico Wrobel finished with five goals and 11 total points. Goalkeeper Lee Johnston posted a 1.75 goals against average, 75 saves and three shutouts (Read more).
