Compliance Tip of the Month - November 2008

Personalized Recruiting Aids: Pitt staff may not arrange for miscellaneous and/or personalized recruiting aids on official and/or unofficial visits to be placed at any location that the PSA might visit (e.g. hotel, locker room, coaches' offices, competition arena, practice facilities). Personalized Recruiting Aids include any decorative item that is placed in an area specifically for the PSA and does not necessarily have to be personalized. Items that are prohibited can include (but are not limited to):

  • Welcoming Banners and/or Signs (regardless of whether the message is personalized) placed in any areas the PSA visits (including areas on campus).
  • Special arrangements (i.e. flowers, balloons) placed in any area the PSA visits.
  • Personalized items such as Jerseys, Name Plates, Pictures, etc.
  • Scoreboard and/or LED Board messages (regardless of whether the message is personalized).
Game-day Simulation Activities: Pitt staff may not permit a PSA to engage in any game-day simulation activities while attending an official or unofficial visit to campus. Game-day simulation activities that are prohibited can include (but are not limited to):
  • Running onto the field with the team for pre-game introductions.
  • Sitting on the bench or in any area restricted specifically for the team during the conduct of the game (i.e. sideline).
  • Joining the University's special guests in lining the tunnel during the football team's introduction to the field.
  • Entering the stadium using any route designed specifically for the public to witness the team's entrance to the field (i.e. Panther Prowl, riding a bus using police escorts).
