
Pitt to Face Penn State in Legends Classic Nov. 20 in Brooklyn

PITTSBURGH – Pitt will play intrastate rival Penn State Monday, Nov. 20 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn in the semifinals of the 11th annual Legends Classic. Texas A&M and Oklahoma State square off in the first game of the doubleheader at 7 p.m., following by the Pitt-Penn State matchup, which will be available on ESPN3.
The winners will meet for the Legends Classic championship the following evening, with the losers squaring off in the consolation game slated to begin at 3:30 p.m.
Pitt and Penn State have met 147 previous times with the Nittany Lions holding a narrow 75-72 edge in the all-time series. The Panthers have won the past seven meetings, including an 81-73 decision a year ago in the Never Forget Tribute Classic at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.
Pitt, Penn State, Oklahoma State and Texas A&M will host two games on their home courts in addition to playing a pair of games in Brooklyn. They are joined in the Legends Classic by Pepperdine, Montana, Oral Roberts, and UC-Santa Barbara. These four teams will meet in the subregional rounds at Pepperdine, beginning on Nov. 20 when Montana faces Oral Roberts and Pepperdine takes on UCSB in the semifinals. The consolation and championship games of the subregional will be played the next day.
The Panthers begin Legends Classic action Monday, Nov. 13 with a home contest against Montana. Pitt will also host UC-Santa Barbara in the event, Wednesday, Nov. 15, before moving on to the championships rounds at the Barclays Center.
