PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh wrestling team dropped a 28-11 decision to No. 25 North Dakota State Friday night in the Fitzgerald Field House.
With the loss, the Panthers drop to 1-6 on the year, while the Bison improve to 3-2.
Four Pitt wrestlers posted wins individually, but it wasn't enough to push past the visiting team.
North Dakota State jumped in front, 6-0, after junior LJ Bentley had to medical forfeit at 125 pounds.
At 133 pounds, senior Dom Forys put the Panthers on the board after a 10-3 decision over Cam Sykora, 6-3. Forys, the 11th-ranked 133-pounder in the country, improves to 8-2 on the year with the win.
Redshirt senior Nick Zanetta gave Pitt a 7-6 lead in the dual after picking up a 10-1 major decision over McGwire Midkiff. The 17th-ranked 141-pounder collected 10 points in the first period and that would prove to be enough as he improves to 12-7 on the year.
The Bison took control of the dual, claiming four consecutive bouts for a 21-7 lead at the end of 174 pounds.
Redshirt freshman Gregg Harvey had an impressive showing at 184 as he picked up a 19-7 major decision over Nick Knutson. Harvey's win would be the last for the Panthers.
NDSU claimed the final two bouts en route to a 28-11 win.
