Leaders are born and made. Everyone can be a leader in some way, and everyone can improve upon their leadership skills.
Starting in the 2003-2004 Academic Year, the Panther Game Plan introduces the "Panther Game Plan Leadership Academy". Please read on to take advantage of this unique opportunity to expand upon and build your leadership skills and abilities!
Panther Game Plan Leadership Academy
The Panther Game Plan Leadership Academy provides a game plan for student athletes to develop their leadership knowledge and skills, to put those skills into action, and to receive recognition for their efforts.
Each Student Athlete applies annually, using the Panther Game Plan Leadership Academy Play Book:
- Complete the application and attend Panther Game Plan Leadership Academy orientation session.
- Obtain recommendation of Coach, commenting on potential for leadership and agreeing to support the student athlete's efforts to develop leadership skills.
- Complete student athlete statement of personal values and mission.
- Participate in at least 10 hours of community service each term.
- Participate in a leadership activity on or off campus, (i.e., team captain, chair a committee, leadership role in a campus or community organization, organize a community service activity) and provide supporting documentation.
- Attend at least one leadership development education session.
- Visit the Career Services office.
- Interview a recognized campus or community leader, and complete a one page reaction to the interview based on an outline provided.
- Read at least one book from the Panther Game Plan Leadership Academy suggested reading list and write a process paper on that book.
Upon certification of completion of all requirements listed above, the student athlete will be considered a member of the Panther Game Plan Leadership Academy for the academic year and will receive a certificate and recognition.
