Freshman Ashley Corum Excelling in Track and Field
With less than a minute remaining in his bout at the 157-pound weight class against conference rival Edinboro, Pitt wrestler Donnie Tasser knew his team badly needed a big win. Tied with his opponent with only 15 seconds remaining, Tasser planned his move, took a shot at his opponent and scored a takedown with eight seconds remaining to secure the 7-5 win and put the Panthers in the lead. Junior Reba Tutt smacked her third homer in two days, in a late rally, as Pitt's softball team attempted to comeback in a 7-5 loss to Seton Hall during the final game of its weekend series, held at Trees Field, this afternoon. Pitt Tight Ends Selected in 2010 NFL Draft
Pitt had two players selected in the 2010 NFL Draft on Saturday and three additional players signed free agent contracts. Four Gymnasts Prepare for NCAA Regionals
Four Pitt gymnasts earned invitations to NCAA Regional meet following their performances at the EAGL Championships on March 27. Competition is set to begin this Saturday, April 10 in State College, Pa. Meaghan Biros, Dani Bryan, Jen Liberato and Alicia Talucci are the four athletes who will be making the trip to Penn State this weekend. Senior Dani Bryan (Germantown, Md./Northwest) and sophomore Alicia Talucci (Coatesville, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) turned in the top finishes at the EAGL Championships, tying for fourth place on the vault. Bryan also competed on the bars and floor, finishing the meet with a team-best on both events. Talucci garnered a fifth place finish in the all-around competition with a score of 39.200. Pitt's baseball team picked up their 20th win of the season with a 5-4 victory on the road at Akron Tuesday afternoon, improving to 20-6 on the year. Freshman J.R. The Panthers earned two first-place finishes, as several other members of the women's track and field team qualified for the ECAC and Big East Championships at the Duke Invitational, held at Wade Wallace Stadium. Cowsette and Hobwana Earn Third-Place Finishes at the Duke Invitational
Sophomore Dontave Cowsette and junior Antony Hobwana placed in the top three, as four members of the men's track and field team qualified for the IC4A Championships at the Duke Invitational, held at Wade Wallace Stadium. Earning the best finish of the day for the Panthers, Cowsette placed second in the 800M run, crossing the finish at 1:50.22. His time was one of the three IC4A standards achieved on the day. Senior Brianna Broyles won the 400M hurdles on the first day of the Duke Invitational, as the Pitt women's track and field team competed at Wallace Wade Stadium. University of Pittsburgh senior shortstop Danny Lopez (Queens, N.Y./Monsignor McClancy) has been named to the Brooks Wallace Award Watch List as announced by the College Baseball Foundation. Lopez has started in all 22 games for the Panthers and leads the team with 37 runs scored. Lopez, who typically leads off the batting order for the Panthers, is second on the team with 11 doubles, 31 RBI and leads the team with 16 stolen bases in 17 attempts. Former Pitt TE Dickerson Impresses at Combine
Former Pitt tight end Dorin Dickerson had an impressive showing over the weekend during the 2010 NFL Draft Scouting Combine, posting several numbers that were among the best both in his position group and overall at the combine. Dickerson ran a 4.40-second 40-yard dash, which was .16 seconds faster than the No. 2 tight end's time. Additionally, Dickerson's 43-inch vertical jump was first among all players at the combine and was the highest by 3.5 inches among all tight ends. His broad jump (10'5") was first among tight ends and second overall. Dickerson was also third among tight ends in the three-cone drill (6.9 seconds) and the 20-yard shuttle (4.3 seconds), while finishing fourth in bench press reps (24). Lucas Named Male Swimmer of the Meet
Co-Swimmer of the ECAC Championships, sophomore Jake Lucas earned an individual ECAC crown, as select members of the men's swimming and diving team competed in the ECAC Championships, held at Trees Pool. Just last week, Lucas broke the longest standing record in Pitt's books, when he fell two seconds under the previous standard of 48.09 in the 100 fly during the Big East Championships. Stevens and Cheesebrew Earn All-Tournament Honors
Just one day after suffering an 11-inning loss to Fairfield, freshman Holly Stevens and sophomore Kristen Cheesebrew earned All-Tar Heel Invitational honors, as Pitt's softball team rebounded with a five-inning, 14-1 victory in its final game of the tournament, held at Anderson Stadium. The Panthers improved to 3-6 with the win, while the Stags slipped to 1-3 on the year. Stevens went 4-for-4 with five RBI and three runs in the game. Her five RBI is a first since Lisa McGregor drove in five runs against Villanova in 2006. Chelsea Cole named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
University of Pittsburgh junior forward Chelsea Cole has been named to the Big East women's basketball weekly honor roll, conference officials announced Monday morning. The Lumberton, N.J. native led the Panthers to a 2-0 record this week, recording back-to-back double-doubles in the process. Cole recorded a career-high 22 rebounds in Pitt's 78-57 victory against Seton Hall on Feb. 20, and added a 16-rebound, 15-point performance in the Panthers' 74-69 win at Villanova on Feb. 17. Sam Young and DeJuan Blair Selected in 2009 NBA Draft
All-Americans Sam Young and DeJuan Blair were selected 36th and 37th overall in the 2009 NBA Draft. Young was selected by the Memphis Grizzlies and Blair by the San Antonio Spurs. Shavonte Zellous Drafted In First Round Of WNBA Draft To Defending Champion Detroit Shock

Ticketing Plan Has Fans Input
Pitt's new plan to increase ticket sales and attendance during football season involves using students' feedback. The plan is using the more user-friendly "Students Only" page and the new Pitt Panthers Facebook page to get students more active with Pitt football and to make improvements based on fan feedback. EA Sports to Film Oakland Zoo During Next Two Games
EA Sports will be coming to Pitt to get footage of the Zoo to be featured on next year's NCAA March Madness game. They will be recording Wednesday night during the game against Marquette and during the UConn game Saturday.
