Pitt Women Break Four School Records on Day One of ACC Championships

Blair Wegescheide and Dani des Tombe lead off relays in record setting fashion

2012 - 2013: In first college meet, DeWitt finished third in the 100 free (54.36) and had a second place finish in the 200 Free Relay against St. Bonaventure...DeWitttook second place in the 400 freestyle relay against Virginia...she would also finish fourth in the 200 IM...Swam the 200 medley relay, 50 free, 100 fly and 400 free relay in the Cincinnati meet...Finished second in the consolation final of the women's 200 yard IM at the Pitt Invitational...Anchored her group to a second place finish in the women's 400 yard freestyle relay as well as swimming in both the 50 and 100 yard freestyle heats against WVU...Placed third in the women's 500 yard freestyle as well as fourth in the 200 free and 200 yard freestyle relay at the Western Pa. Invitational.

High School: Attended Rustin High School in West Chester, Pa....owns school records in the 200 IM (2:08.21) and 100 free (52.93)...also holds the Rustin school relay records in the 200 medley relay, the 200 free relay and 400 free relay...placed seventh in 200 IM and ninth in the 400 free relay at the state championships her senior season...competed on the Chesmont American Division Championship teams in 2010 and 2012...earned All-America status in the 200 medley relay, 200 free relay and 400 free relay...honored as an All-State swimmer in the 200 IM and 400 free relay as a senior...was a back-to-back All-Area First Team selection as a junior and senior...lauded as All-Area Second Team as a sophomore...awarded both the Spirit Award for Rustin swimming and the Coaches Award for Rustin Swimming during junior and senior seasons by head coach Scott Elliot...also won the spirit award during 2011-2012 for the Golden Ram Aquatics club team, her club team of 11 years...also lettered in field hockey.

Personal: Born Bethany Janna DeWitt on May 24, 1994...daughter of Jim and Kathy DeWitt...has a younger brother, Steven...member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish National Honor Society...majoring in secondary mathematics and education.
