2008-09:A team captain, Jon Buchanan placed fifth in the 400 IM and seventh in the 1650 free at the Big East Championships...earned the Big East Conference/Aeropostale institutional Scholar Award...earned the academic award at the season ending team banquet for earning the highest GPA on the team.
2007-2008: Buchanan swam in every meet as a junior...placed 10th in the consolation heat of the 400 IM at the Big East Championships...recorded a team top-five finish in the 1000 free against Syracuse...posted a season-best in the 200 back at the Princeton `Big Al' meet.
2006-2007: Sat out the season due to injury.
2005-2006: Buchanan led the team in the 400 IM and the 1650 freestyle...swam the fourth best time in the 100 breaststroke and 500 freestyle among his teammates and placed second in the 1000 freestyle and 200 IM...set career-bests in the 500 freestyle, 400 IM and 1650 freestyle.
HIGH SCHOOL: Buchanan arrived at Pitt after qualifying for the Ohio state championships all four years of his high school career...placed third at states in the 200 and 500 IM his senior year...named conference Swimmer of the Year in 2004 and 2005...member of the All-Ohio Interscholastic team in 2002...three-time all-conference first team performer...holds the conference record in the 200 IM and 500 Free...All-America first-team honoree in 2004 and 2005 in multiple events...2005 GWOC Scholar-athlete...National Honor Society member...placed third at the Junior Nationals in the 1650 Free...swam with the Dayton Raiders from 1999-2005.
