Pitt Swimming Receives All-Big East Honors on Day One

Joanna Budzis and three Pitt relay teams break school records.

2012 - 2013: Part of the second place finishing 400 free relay team against Virginia where he also swam the 200, 100 and 50 free...On the road against Cincinnati Pagel placed third in the 200 free, 100 free and part of the winning 400 free relay...Placed fifth in the 200 free (1:43.59) and part of the winning 400 free relay...At the Pitt Invitational heswam the 200 free (1:41.93), 100 free (46.69) and 50 free (21.67)...Swam in first and second place finishes respectively in the men's 400 yard freestyle and 200 yard medley relays in the Panthers' win over WVU...Swam to second in the 200 yard medley relay at the Western PA Invitational where he also placed first in the 100 yard free.

2011 - 2012: Earned All-Big East honors and set a school record with an NCAA provisional time as a part of the 800 free relay...part of the 400 free relay team that placed fourth and recorded an NCAA provisional time at the Big East Championship (Feb. 15)...placed first with the 400 free relay team and placed second in the 50 free (tie) and 200 free during his first meet of the season at West Virginia (Jan. 7)...captured first with the 200 medley, 400 free and 400 medley relay teams against Maryland (Jan. 13)...placed second in the 200 free relay and third in the 50 free at Virginia (Jan. 28)...touched for first in the 100 free and third in the 200 IM during the Panthers' regular-season finale (Feb. 4)...anchored the winning 200 medley relay team at the Senior Meet.

2009-10: An NCAA provisional qualifier...earned All-Big East honors as a member of the 200 medley, 200 free and 400 free relay teams...placed within the Big East top 10 times in the 50 free and 200 free...anchored the 200 medley relay that set an ECAC championship record with a NCAA B time of 1:21:54...also a member of the ECAC record-setting 200 free relay...earned an ECAC crown by breaking 10 year old record at a collective NCAA B cut of 1:29:53 with 200 medley relay team...swam under a previous Trees Pool record finishing second at 2:57:10 with the 400 free relay team...individually, he won the 100 free against Carnegie Mellon...also placed second in the 50 free against Maryland and Penn State.

2008-09:Joined the team in January and immediately the Big East Championships he placed fifth in the 200 free...set a freshman record in the 200 free...was 11th in the 50 free and 16th in the 100 free...turned in his best time in the 200 free as the lead leg of the third-place 800 free relay team...was a part of the third-place 200 and 400 freestyle relays...also swam in the 400 medley relay which placed sixth at the BEC.

HIGH SCHOOL:Swam for the SG Neukolin club team...only swam for two years at Werner-Seelenbinder-Schule in Berlin.
