Panthers set three school records and record eight NCAA
2014-15: In the season opener against Duke, placed second in the 50 free and fourth in the 100 free, while also contributing to a pair of runner-up relay teams in the 200 medley and 400 free relay races ... At Georgia Tech/Georgia Southern, was fourth in the 50 free and led Pitt to a win in the 400 free relay and runner-up finish in the 200 medley relay ... Won the 50 free against St. Bonaventure and helped the Panthers take first in the 400 medley relay and post the fastest time in the 200 free relay ... For the second straight day, won the 50 free and also placed third in the 100 free, in addition to competing on the winning 200 medley relay team and the fastest 400 free relay team ... Placed fifth in the 50 free at Notre Dame/Virginia Tech ... Made two championship finals at the Pitt Invite, winning the 50 free and taking third in the 100 free, while helping Pitt to victories in the 200 free relay and 200 medley relay ... Swam in one C Final, placing 24th in the 100 free, and also took 31st in the 50 free, in addition to racing on three relay teams, two of which finished in the top-nine ... Was second in the 50 free and was on two runner-up relay teams (200 medley, 400 free) against West Virginia ... Placed third in the 50 free at Denison.
2013-14: Finished second in the 50 freestyle against Bucknell... Finished third in the 100 freestyle against Bucknell...At the Pitt Panthers Invitational, he took first place in the 200 yard freestyle relay and second place in the 200 medley relay...Finished fourth in the 50 freestyle at the Pitt Invite...Competed at the AT&T Winter Nationals where he finished eleventh in the 400-yard freestyle relay...Against Virginia, finished first in the 200 free relay...Broke the school record in the 200 medley relay at the ACC Championships...Set a personal best and season record in the 50 yard freestyle (20.03) at the ACC Championship...Earned a spot in the C final in the 100 freestyle at the ACC Championships.
2012-13: Against St. Bonaventure, his first college meet, Heiden placed third in the 50 free (21.65) and second in the 200 free relay...Heiden finished first in the 400 freestyle relay against Virginia...would also take third place in the 100 butterfly (52.78) and fourth in the 50 freestyle...In an away meet against Cincinnati, Heiden placed second in the 50 free (21.61)...Placed third in the men's 50 yard freestyle and 400 yard freestyle relay against Notre Dame as well as swimming in 100 yard butterfly...Would finish first in the men's 200 yard freestyle at the Pitt Invitational...also reached the championship final of the 50 yard freestyle and finished second in the 200 yard medley relay...Swam to a fifth place finish in the men's 50 yard freestyle while also competing in the 100 free, 400 freestyle relay, and 200 yard medley relay against WVU...Helped both the 200 medley and freestyle relay teams to a first place finish at the Western PA Invitational. Also placed third in the 100 free and fourth in the 200 freestyle at the same meet.
High School: Graduate of Wilson High School in West Lawn, Pa. where he was a four time varsity letter winner for Wilson boy's swimming under head coach Roy Snyder...won the PIAA District 3 AAA gold medal in the 50 free, 100 free, 200 free relay and 400 free relay as a senior...led Wilson High School to a Central Penn League Team Championship, a District 3 second place finish and a ninth place finish at the PIAA State Championships as a captain during his senior season...also has three other Central Penn League Team Championships to his credit... holds school record in the 100 free with a time of 45.88...earned National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association Academic All-American honors as a senior...also named to the NISCA and PIAA All-American Swim as a senior as well as a junior...mentioned on both All-Berks County Swim Team and All-Central Pennsylvania League swim Team in 2011 and 2012...won two varsity letters in water polo... member of The National Society of High School Scholar and The World Language Honor Society.
