2004-2005: Tommy Bird recorded season-best times of 20.56 in the 50 free, 46.18 in the 100 free, 50.02 in the 100 backstroke, and a 50.71 in the 100 butterfly...also helped the 200 medley relay team to a third place finish and the 800 free relay team to a fifth place finish at the Big East Championships...Big East Champion in the 200 free relay...placed second in the Big East Championship meet in the 100 backstroke.
2003-2004: Bird had a breakthrough sophomore campaign with the Panthers, placing among Pittsburgh's top time leaders in eight different events...won his first Big East title as part of the 800 freestyle team and earned a total of five All-Big East honors, including second-place finishes in the 200 freestyle relay and 200 medley relay teams and third-place finishes in the 100 backstroke and 400 freestyle relay...swam three career-best times at the conference meet, including an eighth-place swim in the 200 backstroke.
2002-2003: Bird served as one of the Panthers' top freestyle and backstroke swimmers in his freshman campaign...held top five team times in six individual events, including the team's third-fastest time in the 200 back (1:50.06)...scored in his first Big East meet, placing 11th in the 100 back (50.96) and 15th in the 200 back with his season-best time.
HIGH SCHOOL: Holds the record in the 100 back and 100 fly at Capital High School...named all-tournament and All-American...was a three time YMCA national finalist...also was a member of the University of Charleston Aquatic team.
PERSONAL: Born March 3, 1984...son of Rick and Alice Bird...has two brothers and one sister...an anthropology major.
