PITTSBURGH – In their final home meet as Panthers, the University of Pittsburgh 11 seniors on the men’s and women’s swimming and diving team led Pitt to victory over California (Pa.), Clarion, Carnegie Mellon and Grove City on Saturday afternoon at Trees Pool.
The men defeated Clarion 198-81, Carnegie Mellon 174-81 and Grove City 221-47 to finish their dual meet record at a solid 7-2.
The women defeated Cal 250-36, Clarion 230-66, Carnegie Mellon 242-58 and Grove City 241-49. The finish the season with an overall dual record of 7-3.
The Panthers won 27 of the 32 events this afternoon. Senior Kelsey Herbst won the 100 yard freestyle in a time of 52.99, while fellow senior Brittany DiSanti won the 1 meter dive to highlight the women’s events. The Panthers placed 1-5 in that event.
Seniors Otto Pagel and Hussein Medhat-Mohamed won their respective events to lead the men. Pagel was successful in the 100 yard freestyle in 46.07, while Medhat-Mohammed took home the 500 yard freestyle in a time of 4:42.49.
Pitt now has the Panthers Prep Swimvitational in two weeks which will serve as a warm-up for the Big East Championship Meet to be held February 27 – March 2 in Indianapolis, Ind.
