PITTSBURGH--Five Panthers earned a seed in tonight's finals, as the University of Pittsburgh swimming and diving team competed in the first day of the Big East Diving Championship held at Trees Pool on Friday.
On the men's side, all three of Pitt's divers advanced to the finals on the 3M board. Sophomore Aaron Snyder led the trio with 317.60 points to finish second during prelims. Competing in his first Big East Championship, freshman Harris Bergman turned in a fifth-place performance (295.10), while junior Erik Moore placed seventh (280.20) in the event.
For the women, sophomore Leigh Waltz and freshman Angelika McGhee will compete in the finals on the 1M diving board. In the prelims, Waltz finished sixth with 245.65 points and McGhee clinched eighth with 238.15 points.
Competing in her first conference championship, freshman Ali Swafford finished among the top-25 in the 1M event.
The finals are slated for a 6 p.m. start at Trees Pool.
