GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Atlantic Coast Conference released the 2014 All-ACC Academic Swimming and Diving Team on Thursday morning. The Pitt swimming and diving team has two honorees, junior Jon Lierley for the men and senior Veronica Lee for the women.
To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic Team, candidates must be student-athletes that have earned a 3.00 grade point average in the most recent semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during their academic career.
Veronica Lee, a native of Toronto, Canada, is a chemistry and neuroscience major. The senior is a four-time conference qualifier, including three times in the Big East and this past year in the ACC. She finishes her career ranked in the top five all-time at Pitt in four different categories.
Jon Lierley, who hails from Mount Pleasant, S.C., is finance major. He qualified for the Big East Championships in his freshman and sophomore year and continued to have success his junior year and the university’s first year in the ACC, qualifying for the ACC championships. Lierley set a school record in the 800 free relay at the ACC Championships.
