PITTSBURGH--The University of Pittsburgh swimming and diving program will host two sessions of the U.S. Sports Camps, Inc. Nike Camp at Joe C. Trees Pool this June. Both events are sold out at this time.
Pitt is just one of 26 national sites selected to hold this summers' camps. Trees Pool was the first venue to offer a Nike swim camp in 1997. For the past 15 years, the University of Pittsburgh has been a proud host of Nike Swim Camps.
The first session will be held June 10-14 for ages 6-18. The camp features three different options - an Overnight Camp that includes housing and meals, Extended Day Camp for commuters and Half Day Camp for 6-10 year olds only (8:30 a.m.-noon).
The second installment is set for swimmers aged 10-18 from June 17-21. Participants are registered for either the Overnight Camp or the Extended Day Camp.
Pitt Head Swim Coach Chuck Knoles and his staff will be on hand, as well as University of Pittsburgh student-athletes, providing each camper with an 8/1 swimmer/instructor ratio. Each camp features daily emphasis on stroke technique, videotaping and analysis and discussions on goal setting and proper nutrition. Campers will also receive an official Nike Camp t-shirt, swim cap and an opportunity to win merit-based prizes.
