PITTSBURGH—Junior Laura Barnes and sophomore Tamara Lelli will compete in the 2009 Canadian World Championship Trials, held at Parc Jean-Drapeau in Montreal from Wednesday July 8 through Sunday, July 12.

Barnes (Pickering, Ont./Dunbarton) will compete in the 50, 100 and 200 breast stroke, while and Lelli (Scottsdale, Ariz./Chaparral) will swim the 100 and 200 butterfly, as well as the 100 and 400 freestyle events.

Barnes holds the school records in the 100 and 200 breast stroke, while she and Lelli are members of the record holding 400 medley relay team.

Barnes and Lelli are competing in the meet for a chance to represent Team Canada at the World Aquatic Championship in Rome, Italy, from July 19-August 2.
