PITTSBURGH – Coming off season opening victories against St. Bonaventure last weekend, the University of Pittsburgh men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will host future ACC foe Virginia this Sunday at Trees Pool. The meet is scheduled to start at 10 a.m.
With three first place finishes against St. Bonaventure, Veronica Lee leads the women against the Cavaliers. Lee took first place in the 200 Butterfly, 200 Breaststroke and the 200 IM last weekend. Dani des Tombe and Kelsey Herbst, also coming off strong performances last weekend, will look for more first place finishes against UVA.
Adam Maczewski, Luke Nosbisch and Mack Rice spearhead the men’s efforts this weekend. Maczewski was a part of two winning relay teams last weekend and he also won two individual events (100 and 200 Back).
Nosbisch won the 100 and 200 Breaststroke against St. Bonaventure, while Rice captured the 200 Butterfly and the 200 IM in his first collegiate meet. Aaron Snyder will look to win the 1M and the 3M diving as he did last weekend, while Jon Lierley and Kourosh Ahani will also be a factor in the pool.
UVA, the five time defending ACC champion, is led by 2012 Olympic Gold Medalist Lauren Perdue.
The men’s 1M and the women’s 3M diving will get the meet started at 10 a.m., while swimming action begins at 11 a.m.
