ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The University of Pittsburgh Track and Field team sent four student-athletes to compete in the USATF Indoor Championships this past weekend at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
Seniors Brycen Spratling and Micah Murray represented the men’s team in the 400M dash, while senior Ashley Corum competed in the women’s triple jump and sophomore Taranisha Taylor participated in the women’s 60M hurdles for the Panthers.
Spratling highlighted this weekend’s competition for Pitt by placing fourth in the men’s 400M dash preliminaries with a time of 46.72. He then advanced to the finals where he posted an even better time of 46.51, improving upon his time by 0.31. Spratling’s final time in the 400M is currently the fourth fastest time recorded this season. Murray finished behind Spratling with a time of 47.53 in the same event.
For the women, Taranisha Taylor advanced to the semi-finals in the 60MH. Taylor posted her third fastest time this season in the hurdles during prelims, crossing the finish line at 8.38. Corum competed in the finals for the women’s triple jump, posing a distance of 11.72 meters (38—05.50).
The men and women next compete in the ACC Indoor Championships in Clemson, S.C., starting Thursday, February 27 through March 1st.
