CHARLOTTESVILLE, Virginia – Brycen Spratling continues to be on top in the 400 meter dash event with another winning performance at the Virginia Challenge on Friday. Spratling took first in the event and reset his own school record with a time of 45.22, improving his personal best time by 0.24 seconds.
Spratling impressed with not only a new school record and career best performance, but also set a Lannigan Field facility record. The facility record of 45.68 set by Bryan Swarn of Georgia Tech has stood since 2002.
Andrew Wells had a comeback performance since last competing in the ACC Outdoor Championships by resetting his own school record and a new career best in the men’s hammer throw with a distance of 58.82 meters.
Desmond Palmer impressed again in the 400 meter hurdle invitational as he competed alongside the pros. Palmer finished ahead of USA’s Fred Sharpe with a new personal best time of 51.73, and second against the collegiate competition.
Representing for the women, Jessica Tongue-Coates won the 100 meter dash with a career best of 11.70 seconds. Tongue-Coates improved her PR by 0.16 seconds, which she last set at the ACC Outdoor Championships this season.
