GREENSBORO, N.C. – The University of Pittsburgh’s track and field sprinter Brycen Spratling has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Male Performer of the Week for two solid showings at the Penn State National Invitational.
Spratling finished the weekend ranked among the NCAA top 10 in two events – one individual and one relay – after a pair of solid performances in the 400M dash and 4x400M relay.
The Webster, N.Y., native currently ranks seventh nationally in the 400M after finishing in first-place with an ACC Championship qualifying time of 46.32. Spratling also anchored the Pitt men’s 4x4 first-place relay team, which now ranks sixth nationally. The relay time of 3:06.98 broke the previous PSU meet record of 3:07.33 by the 2012 Pitt’s men 4x4.
Spratling’s success comes as no surprise, as he holds school records in four individual events and four relays. He is currently a school record holder in the men’s indoor 400M (45.85), 500M (1:00.37), 600M (1:19.06), 4x2 (1:24.91) and 4x4 (3:05.35). In the outdoor events, Spratling is also the record holder in the men’s 400M (45.71), 4x2 (1:23.77) and 4x4 (3:04.16).
The Panthers will be on the road this weekend to compete at three separate meets – The Armory Collegiate Invite, YSU Nationals and Virginia Tech Elite Meet – starting February 7th.
