GREENSBORO, N.C. – Three student-athletes from the University of Pittsburgh were named to the 2017 All-ACC Academic Women’s Indoor Track and Field Team, as announced Thursday by Commissioner John Swofford.

“With the outstanding academic reputation of the University of Pittsburgh and the entire ACC, it is impressive that these talented young ladies have been recognized as ACC All-Academic honorees,” head coach Alonzo Webb said. “Since coming to Pitt they have exemplified the qualities that we as a university and our track and field program in particular look for in a student-athlete: they are academically focused, athletically driven and team oriented. These young women are setting the standard of a true student-athlete for all to follow. I truly appreciate each of them for achieving our platinum standard of expectation.”

Junior Andin Fosam, sophomore Gillian Schriever and senior Joslin Sellers each landed on the list. Fosam made her second consecutive appearance on the indoor team, while the honor is the first of Schriever’s and Sellers’ careers. Schriever was named to the All-ACC Cross Country Academic Team in February, as well as the All-ACC Academic Outdoor Team last season.

Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.  Every student-athlete selected to the 2017 All-ACC Women’s Track and Field Academic Team earned All-America and/or All-ACC honors this past season.

Fosam holds a 3.667 cumulative GPA as a dual major in biological sciences and history and philosophy of science, as well as a minor in chemistry. In February, the Robbinsville, N.J., native picked up All-ACC Second Team honors in weight throw, placing fourth at the ACC Indoor Championships in Notre Dame, Ind., with a toss of 19.24m. Fosam won her event at three meets over the course of the indoor season, including the YSU College Invite in January where she set a facility record on a personal best throw of 19.88m.

Schriever earned a perfect 4.0 for the fall 2016 semester, bringing her cumulative GPA to 3.931 as a chemical engineering major. She earned All-ACC Second Team honors at the ACC Indoor Championships with a sixth place finish in the 5000m race, posting a personal record time of 16:10.06. The Tuckerton, N.J., native recorded two wins this season: in the 3000m at the Nittany Lion Challenge (Jan. 14) and the 5000m at the Meyo Invitational (Feb. 3).

Sellers maintains a 3.612 GPA as a chemical engineering after posting a 3.912 for the fall 2016 semester. The pinnacle of her indoor season came at the ACC Indoor Championships, where she broke a 12-year standing school record in the mile, placing fifth at 4:43.33 and securing All-ACC Second Team honors. Additionally, the Lancaster, Pa., native anchored Pitt’s distance medley relay team that set a school record (11:18.78) en route to a fifth-place finish at the Championships.

The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
