GREENSBORO, N.C. - Three University of Pittsburgh track and field members were selected to the 2014 All-ACC Academic Outdoor Track and Field Teams, announced Wednesday by ACC Commissioner John Swofford.
Senior Brad Rocco, a Pharmacy major, finished the spring semester with a 3.25 GPA and totaled a cumulative GPA of 3.37. On the track, Rocco competed in the Decathlon at the 2014 ACC Outdoor Championships, placing tenth with a total of 6300 points, a personal best score.
Enrolled in the Dietrich School of Arts & Sciences, freshman Ethan Shalaway posted a 3.41 spring semester GPA and holds a cumulative GPA of 3.03. He competed in the Javelin throw (65.98M) at the Tennessee Relays, setting a personal best mark.
An English Literature major, Haley Springman earned a 3.38 GPA this past spring semester and has earned a 3.46 cumulative GPA thus far at Pitt. Springman competed at the 2014 ACC Outdoor Championships, finishing second overall in the women's discus championship finals. She holds the school record in the discus throw (51.29M) which she set at the 2014 ECAC/IC4A Championships.
To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic Team, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during their academic career.
