PITTSBURGH-The University of Pittsburgh men's and women's cross country teams opened its season in the Duquesne Duals on Saturday at Schenley Park. 

The men's cross country team finished 4-1 in its head-to-head meets, which included wins over: Carnegie Mellon, St. Vincent College, Youngstown State and Robert Morris with Panthers falling to Duquesne. 

Two Panthers placed in the men's top 10.  Ben Kisley was the first Panther to cross the finish line in ninth place with a 26:34 time, followed by Andrew Cerrito in 10th place (26:58).

Kevin Hull (11th), Rich Addison (13th), Thomas Griffith (22nd) and Wesley Washington (24th) also placed in the top 25, respectively.

On the women's side, the Panthers finished 3-1 in their head-to-head meets with wins over: Youngstown State, Carnegie Mellon and Robert Morris.  The lady Panthers also suffered a defeat to Duquesne.

Amber McAteer paced the pack of three top-10 finishers for the Panthers.  She crossed the finish line in seventh place (19:03), quickly followed by Cayla DelPiano in eighth (19:04) and Rachael Brown in ninth (19:04).  Six other lady Panthers placed in the top 25 for the event.

Pitt returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 15, in Princess Anne, Md. to compete in the Cappy Anderson Invitational.
