PRINCESS ANNE, Md.-The Pitt cross country teams both finished in first place in Saturday’s Cappy Anderson Invitational hosted by the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
The men’s and women’s teams dominated the competition, finishing first in the team results. Pitt secured victories over Seton Hall, Morgan State University, University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Norfolk State University, Coppin State University, Delaware State University and Wesley University.
Five Panthers crossed the finish line ahead of the other competitors in the women’s 5k race. Sophomore Morgan Perry won the women’s race with an 18:30.50 time. Pitt’s Rachel Brown (18:33.55), Cayla Del Piano (18:50.08), Amber McAteer (18:50.83) and Hillary Boxheimer (18:51.41) rounded out the top five. The Panthers had nine of the top 10 places in the Cappy Anderson.
Pitt senior Andrew Cerrito finished the men’s 8k with a time of 25:42.42. Ben Kisley (26:15.44), Rich Addison (26:30.70) and Kevin Hull (26:43.33) finished directly behind Cerrito to take the top four places.
The men’s cross country team now boasts an 11-1 team record on the season and the women’s team stands 10-1 in team races.
The Panthers’ next race will be at Lehigh University on Sept. 28 when they compete in the Paul Short Invitational.
