Pittsburgh- The University of Pittsburgh men's and women's cross teams traveled to Easton, Pa. this week to compete in the Leopard Invitational at Lafayette College.
It was another strong showing this week from the women's team. The Panthers finished second in the 6k race out of 13 teams.
Sophomore Morgan Perry led the Panthers finishing in 11th place with a time of 21:50.8. This is the second time this year that Perry crossed the finish line first for the Panthers.
Freshman Paige Anderson wasn't far behind. Anderson ran a 21:59.89 good enough for 13th place. Another freshman, Cayla Del Piano finished in 15th place with a time of 22:03.43. More freshmen Rachel Brown (22:24.46), Hillary Boxheimer (22:24.96) and Alexandra Cady (22:25.57) finished 22nd-24th rounding out the top 25 competitors.
The men's team finished seventh place out of 13 teams in the 5 mile race at the Leopard Invitational.
Senior Daniel Lipus who ran a 25:44.72 paced the Panthers. This is the first time that Lipus led the Panthers across the finish line. Junior Rich Addison finished in the top 25 coming in 17th place with a time of 26:01.14.
The next race up for the Panthers is the Big East Championship at Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, N.Y. on October 26.
