University Park- The University of Pittsburgh men’s and women’s cross country teams competed in the Mid-Atlantic Region Championships in University Park at Penn State University on Friday.
The Pitt men’s team took 17th place out 25 teams in the 10k race, while the women’s team finished in 18th out of 31 teams in the 6k race.
The men’s team was led by senior Daniel Lipus who finished 69th with a time of 32:11. Michael Runco (85th), Rich Addison (99th), Andrew Cerrito (104th), Daniel Patti (117th) and Wesley Washington (139th) rounded out the scoring contingent for the Panthers.
On the women’s side, sophomore Morgan Perry crossed the finish line first for the Panthers in 79th place with a time of 22:41. Kayla Keddal (81st), Cayla Del Piano (82nd), Paige Anderson (120th), Rachel Brown (139th) and Hillary Boxheimer (141st) completed the scoring for the Panthers.
The University of Georgetown took first place in the men’s race with a total of 56 points and Penn State took home the title in the women’s race with a total of 61 points.
The Panther’s next race will be November 17 in Bronx, N.Y. when they will compete in the ECAC/IC4A Championship.
