PITTSBURGH-The University of Pittsburgh honored 200 of its student-athletes who achieved a 3.0 grade-point average or better - including 13 with a perfect 4.0 average - in either of the past two semesters at the 10th annual Scholar-Athlete Award Banquet at the William Pitt Union Thursday, Feb. 7.

Additionally, the event featured the annual presentation of the Academic Team Award, given to the Pittsburgh intercollegiate sports team that attains the highest cumulative team grade-point average. This year's recipient is the women's swimming and diving team, which boasted a 3.12 average. The team was presented a traveling trophy to recognize its accomplishment.

"As proud as I am of the accomplishments of our student-athletes on the field, court, pool and track, our proudest days come when we honor their outstanding academic achievements," said Pittsburgh athletic director Steve Pederson. "The University of Pittsburgh continues to prove that you can have great students and great athletes in one."
