Three Panthers Earn All-Conference Honors

Track and Field competed at Big East Outdoor Championships.

The Pittsburgh men's track and field team had three performers earn All-Conference honors at the Big East Outdoor Championships, held May 1-3 at Villanova, Pa.

Senior Ron Losiewicz (Youngstown, Ohio/Fitch) had the Panthers' top performance with a second-place finish in the discus. Losiewicz threw 168-4 to earn All-Big East for the second straight season.

Freshman James Neese (Baden, Pa./Ambridge) finished third in the decathlon with 6,558 points. Neese, who established himself as one of the conference's top multi-event athletes this season, won both the high jump (6-7) and javelin (189- 7) events in the decathlon competition.

Sophomore Sekou Dilday (Boston, Mass.Natick) was the Panthers' other All-Big East performer. Dilday placed third in the 400 meters with a time of 47.24.

Pittsburgh finished 10th in the final team standings with 35.5 points. Georgetown captured this year's team championship. Pittsburgh will host the Pitt Invitational this Saturday, May 9, at Pitt Stadium. Following a week off, the Panthers will participate in the IC4A Championships at George Mason University in Fairfax, Va.
