Maureen McCandless and Curtis Larimar Lead Cross Country Teams in Opening Meet

The Panthers return to action on September 24 at the Duquesne Invitational.

PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh cross country team competed Saturday at the Duquesne Duals held at Schenley Oval.

Leading the way for the women was senior Maureen McCandless, who finished second with a time of 17:39. Senior Lauren Shaffer was the next Panther to finish, placing sixth in 18:19. With a time of 19:15, sophomore Suzi Bossart finished 14^th, while teammate Nicole Bielick placed 17^th with a time of 19:18.

Curtis Larimar was the first Panther to reach the finish line for the men placing ninth with a time of 22:03. David Doty was not far behind running a time of 22:13, finishing 14^th.

The Panthers have two weeks before their next competition, which is on Friday, September 24 at the Duquesne Invitational.
