Maureen McCandless wins the Duquesne Invitational

The Panthers' women's team finished second, while the men tied for second.

PITTSBURGH- The University of Pittsburgh Cross Country Team competed at the Duquesne Invitational Friday afternoon at the Schenley Park Oval.

Senior Maureen McCandless took first overall to lead the Panthers to a second place finish out of seven teams. McCandless finished with a time of 21:49. Placing seventh was junior Nicki Angstadt (23:53), followed by freshmen Nikki Bielick (24:06), who finished in ninth place.   

The men tied for second with Saint Francis as sophomore Tim Nonoval finished third with a time of 26:18. The next Panther to cross the finish line was sophomore Andy Tomaswick, who finished 11th with a time of 27:02.

 

The Panthers next meet is on October 1 at the Great American Race in Cary, N.C.
