Pittsburgh's Cross Country Teams Gear Up for NCAA Regional Championships

11/9/2004

The regional meet will be held at State College this Saturday, Nov. 13.

PITTSBURGH-The University of Pittsburgh’s Cross Country teams will compete this upcoming weekend in the NCAA Regional Championships at State College.

Both the men’s and women’s teams will look toward the same team leaders they have been all season, senior Maureen McCandless and sophomore Tim Konoval, who each led their teams at the Big East Championships last week. McCandless will be looking for an individual qualification for nationals after placing third at the Big East meet behind Providence’s Kim Smith, who placed second at the NCAA championships last year.

In both the men’s and women’s divisions, the Panthers will attempt to break into the top 10 in the regional this year. The highest each team has ever placed is seventh.
