Maureen McCandless Captures First Place at NCAA Regional Meet

McCandless qualified for the NCAA National Championships, held on Nov. 22 at Indiana State University.

PITTSBURGH- Maureen McCandless continued to make her mark in Panther history by capturing first place at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships in State College this past Saturday.

 

Qualifying for the NCAA finals, McCandless finished with a time of 20:06, the best finish ever for Pittsburgh. Junior Lauren Shaffer finished 24th with a time of 22:08, which is the fourth-best place in school history. Both earned All-Region plaudits following the meet.

 

The women’s team placed 8th overall in the competition while the men’s team finished 9th.

 

McCandless will represent the Panthers on Nov. 22 in the NCAA Championship held at Indiana State University.
