Senior Maureen McCandless Captures All-America Honors at the NCAA Cross Country Championships

PITTSBURGH — Senior Maureen McCandless capped off her senior cross country campaign in style as she earned All-America status with a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Championships today, held at Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Ind.

McCandless (Bensalem, Pa./Nazareth Academy) finished with a time of 20:38.2, the best Panther NCAA Championship finish in the history of the program. She was also awarded the Mid-Atlantic District Female Cross Country Athlete of the Year for her outstanding efforts throughout the 2004 season.

Both Pittsburgh’s men’s and women’s cross country teams have wrapped up their seasons.
