JUNIOR (2007): Rob Brant served as the Panthers' leadoff pitcher in a three-man rotation during the 2007 season...tallied the second-most strikeouts among Pitt pitchers with 82...notched his 230th career strikeout in the Big East Championships vs. Connecticut, good enough for third on the Panthers' all-time career strikeouts list...also moved into second on the Panthers' all-time career innings pitched list with 235.2...tied the second-most starts in a season for a Pitt pitcher with 14...allowed just 30 walks in 88.2 innings-pitched...finished with a 4-7 record and 5.79 ERA...pitched 7.0 innings with eight strikeouts in a no-decision against Rutgers...led the Panthers to a 6-0 victory over Saint Joseph's with a career-high 12 strikeouts as part of a complete-game shutout, earning first win of the season...struckout nine Villanova batters and recorded one defensive putout in six innings of action to help the Panthers to a 11-6 win over the Wildcats...picked up fourth win of the season after allowing just five hits and no earned runs, while striking out eight batters in a 9-2 victory over Georgetown.
SOPHOMORE (2006): Brant appeared on the mound 16 times for the Panthers, including 13 starts...saw 86.0 innings of action, recording 80 strikeouts and 41 walks, while giving up 90 hits, 67 runs and 50 earned runs against 322 batters for a 5.23 ERA and a 3-8 record...earned first win of the season in an 11-2 victory over Coastal Carolina...pitched eight innings in a close 2-1 defeat to Seton Hall, giving up four hits and striking out seven...had best pitching performance of the 2006 season, earning 10th career victory in a 3-2 win over St. John's, throwing 8.1 innings, striking out six and allowing only two hits and two unearned runs...had a season-high 10 strikeouts in back-to-back appearances vs. Villanova and USF...threw a complete game vs. Villanova on April 13.
FRESHMAN (2005): Brant was named a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball...earned second team All-Big East honors, becoming the first freshman pitcher in Pitt history to earn all-conference...had a team-best 7-2 record with a 2.07 ERA in 15 appearances...struck out 68 batters and walked only 23 in 61 innings of work...tied a Pitt freshman record with seven victories, initially set by Aaron Krause in 1981...owned an impressive 4-1 record in Big East play with a 1.56 ERA...earned Big East Pitcher of the Week honors on May 2...finished second in the Big East in ERA and held opponents to a dismal .192 batting average...had his best game in the 11-0 win over West Virginia, throwing a complete-game shutout, walking one and striking out a season-best 12 batters...earned a victory in his first Big East Championship start vs. No. 23 St. John's, allowing six hits and just one run in seven innings with seven strikeouts...struck out eight batters in 4.2 innings in the Panthers' 9-2 win over Duquesne at PNC Park...collected his first victory in a 12-2 win over Kent State...struck out seven Notre Dame batters in six innings of work in the second game of a doubleheader win over the Irish.
HIGH SCHOOL: Brant led Mansfield High School to an impressive record of 22-2...2004 Northern Tier League Champs and District 4 Champs...named Northern Tier League MVP and 2004 Team MVP...named District 4 Pitcher of the Year and first team All-State in 2004...garnered 2004 Male Athlete of the Year honors in hometown of Mansfield, PA...pitched 72.0 innings, had 152 strikeouts, had a 0.55 ERA, .438 batting average with 26 RBI and 17 stolen bases as a senior...also played football, where he was named 2004 All-Twin Tiers Team and first team NTL.
