No. 25 Pitt Panthers Gear Up to Host Rutgers

Panthers host Rutgers for Weekend Series

2013: A first team All-Big East selection...started 58 games for the Panthers...batted a team-best .339 with 79 hits, nine homeruns and a team and Big East-best 65 RBI...also pitched in six games tallying a 1-0 record with a 4.39 ERA and six strikeouts in 26.2 innings of work...started the year by going 8-for-14 with two homeruns and seven RBI in the series at Wichita State...named College Baseball 360 National Player of the Week after his performance against the Shockers...hit homers in three of four games and tallied seven RBI at the Panther Classic...from March 17-27 had a stretch of five games where he tallied two-or-more RBI...hit for the cycle, the first Pitt player to do so since Joe Leonard in 2010, and had 10 RBI against Youngstown State on April 9...hit safely in 23 of 25 games from April 16-May14...started five games for Pitt on the mound picking up a win against West Virginia and throwing seven innings in a win against Rutgers.

2012: Finished the season with a .323 batting average, .417 on-base percentage, and .483 slugging percentage with 23 extra-base hits (three home runs) and 45 RBI...placed among the conference's top-10 leaders in doubles (17), triples (3), RBI, and walks (30)...named to the Big East Weekly Honor Roll during Week 2...started in all 56 games, primarily as an outfielder...tallied 17 multi-hit games and 13 games with multiple RBI...his season featured an eight-game hitting streak and a streak in which he reached base safely in 11 consecutive games...drove in a season-high five runs in a 3-5 performance against Wofford on Feb. 24...went 2-5 with a walk-off home run against Akron on April 18...also made four appearances on the mound against Northwestern (Feb. 18), Penn State (March 21), Kent State (March 28), and Youngstown State (April 4)...posted a 2-1 record with 14 strikeouts in 16.2 innings.

2011: Named to the All-Big East Third Team...played in 37 games during his rookie season...tied for second on the team with a .345 batting average...collected 41 hits and 22 runs...had 67 putouts in the outfield...picked up his first career win as a pitcher against North Carolina A&T on March 8...finished the season with a 2-2 record in 20 innings on the mound.

High School: Roche batted over .440 in each of his last three seasons at Downingtown East, the best coming his sophomore year at .526...had seven home runs and 35 RBI his senior season...led his team to the State Quarterfinals with a 6-0 record in the playoffs as a senior...three-time all-area and all-league team selection...holds the Downingtown High record in career hits...named the 2010 Player of the Year by the Daily Local News...led his club team, the Ohio Warhawks, to the 2010 National Championship...selected as one of the top-20 outfielders of 2009 in Southeastern Pennsylvania by the Philadelphia Inquirer...named the 10th best prospect in the Perfect Game Northeast Sunshine Showcase in 2008...three-year letterman in football.
