Ryan Dunford contributed 26.1 innings of work for the Panthers over 11 appearances during the 2009 season...pitched four innings in relief on opening day, striking out five batters and not allowing an extra base hit against Bradley on February 20...struck out 23 batters and owned a record of 2-0...was third on the team with 10 appearances in relief...made lone start of the season on March 17 against Youngstown State, throwing five and two-thirds innings while striking out six in a 7-6 win.

Dunford made six starts on the mound for the Panthers, while appearing in 11 games...when starting, Pitt went 4-2...threw a total of 42.0 innings, giving up just nine earned runs for an impressive 1.91 ERA... gave up zero triples and zero homeruns...pitched a career-game in game two of a doubleheader vs. Lehigh on March 9...threw a career-high 7.1 innings ...also struck out a career-high five batters in that game while allowing no earned runs, no walks and only four hits, earning his first-career win in a 10-4 Pitt victory...tallied 29 strikeouts on the season...pitched seven no-walk contests...finished with a 1-1 record after a 3-0 Panthers' loss at Kent State on March 28 in a strong pitching performance, giving up no earned runs on just three hits while striking out three batters...pitched 6.0 innings against Akron on April 10, allowing five hits and one unearned run, helping Pitt push past the Zips by a score of 4-2...caught four runners stealing...allowed an average of 1.93 earned runs per game, among the lowest on the Pitt rotation.
Dunford made nine appearances on the mound for the Panthers to finish the season with a 0-1 record...pitched a total of 23 innings, allowing 19 hits, 11 runs and 11 earned runs for a 4.30 ERA, the lowest among Panther relievers...tallied 23 strikeouts against 86 batters and gave up only eight walks, two homeruns and six extra-base hits...posted a 1.000 fielding percentage with six putouts...saw first collegiate action on March 5 vs. Boston College, pitching two innings and recording two strikeouts...pitched a solid inning of relief in the Panthers 6-0 shutout of Bethune-Cookman, striking out two of three batters faced...combined with teammate Justin Cicatello for 2.1 innings of scoreless relief vs. WVU...had career-high eight strikeouts in 15-11, extra-innings loss to Akron, allowing just five hits, one run and one walk in 5.2 innings of work...pitched four innings of relief vs. Georgetown, striking out four and giving up just one hit, the eventual game-winning homerun...threw three straight games with no walks vs. Bethune-Cookman, WVU and Ohio University.
Dunford was a three-time All-Western New York honoree and All-Catholic school honoree at Bishop Timon High School in Buffalo...led his team to an Empire State Championship in 2003 and 2004, compiling a record of 4-0 in the tournament over two years...also a star basketball player while at Bishop Timon.
