2016: Was one of the most consistently productive performers for the Panthers in a breakout redshirt sophomore season … earned 49 starts in the outfield, serving primarily as the Pitt right fielder … batted .330 to finish second amongst the Panthers and 25th in the ACC … led the league in triples, smacking seven on the season to rank seventh in the NCAA … was the only Panther to generate a perfect fielding percentage, not committing an error in 96 attempts … tied for third in the ACC with 13 hit by pitches, marking the second straight season in which he was hit by a pitch 13 times … finished the season 61 hits (61-185), adding five doubles, three triples, one home run and 25 RBIs … ranked fifth on the team with a slugging percentage of .449 … drew 14 walks … added five stolen bases on eight attempts … on base percentage of .415 ranked third amongst the Panther offense … collected his first hit of the year in the season opener against Niagara on Feb. 19, going 1-3 with a run scored, walk and hit by pitch … recorded his first RBI of the year the following game with a 1-3 performance against Toledo … was hit by three straight pitches to open the season as he was plunked against Ohio State, adding two hits in the extra inning loss … was 8-14 in a three-game series at Grambling State, collecting five RBIs, five runs scored and a stolen base, including one double, one triple and one home run … went 3-4 with an RBI and a double on March 20 as Pitt claimed a win over nationally-ranked Florida State … helped guide the Panthers to a series win over ACC foe Boston College … went 4-10 with one RBI, two runs scored and one double … helped Pitt to a win over eventual ACC Champion Clemson on April 2 … went 1-4 with an RBI, run scored and two hit by pitches … in a two-game series against Georgia Tech he went 3-7 with a run scored, one hit by pitch and one walk … collected sit hits in a three-game series against Virginia Tech (6-13) with three RBIs, two runs scored, two triples and one stolen base … went 3-5 with three RBIs, two triples, one run scored, one walk and one hit by pitch in a dominant win at Youngstown State on April 20 … was again solid for the Panthers in a three-game series against ACC rival Notre Dame … went 5-11 with three RBIs, two runs scored, one triple and one walk as Pit took two-of-three from the Fighting Irish … drew three walks and went 1-3 with an RBI and a run scored against Penn State on May 11 … against Coastal Division champion Miami in game two of a weekend series, he went 3-5 with a run scored and a walk to keep pace with the Hurricanes … in his final game of the season, he went 2-4 with an RBI, two runs scored, one double, one triple and a hit by pitch against Duke.

A 2012 All-Tournament team selection for the Perfect Game World Wood Bat Association 17U Championships in Marietta, Ga ... Had the highest batting average (.739) at the Championships with 17 hits ... A captain for the Seton Hall Prep Baseball team ... Named First Team All-State and first team All-SEC his senior year for baseball with a .433 batting average and .571 on base percentage ... Seton Hall Prep went 30-3 that season en route to sectional and county championships.
Personal: Born December, 1994 ... son of Gina and Frank Maldonado ... has one older sister and two younger brothers ... sister Alexa played softball for Notre Dame all four years and is a member of the USA Women's National Baseball Team ... Also played football in high school and was a captain and was named first team All-SEC conference on both offense and defense.
