HIGH SCHOOL: Herr was a four-year member of Hempfield High School baseball team...batted .323 as a freshman, .360 as a sophomore, a career-high .406 as a junior and posted a .365 batting average as a senior...helped the team to District and League Championships as a sophomore and junior, as well as a third-place finish in the state with a 22-4 record as a junior...was selected first team All-League as a sophomore and junior...received All-State honors as a junior... posted a .327 batting average with five homeruns and 22 RBI, as well as eight stolen bases and a .380 on-base percentage as a member of the NYCBL Rochester Royals team...named to the first team All-Star NYCBL team...was a member of the Hempfield high school basketball team for two years and the high school football team for four years...received league and state honors in football.
