REDSHIRT (2004): After seeing action in three games early in the season, Jeff Barnyak missed the entire rest of the 2004 campaign an elbow injury that forced him to redshirt...before the injury, was 2-0 with a 3.86 ERA in 14 innings pitched...had 13 strikeouts to just three walks...started and earned the win in the Panthers' 16-2 victory over Temple...pitched five innings and allowed just one run while striking out five (walking none)...earned second win of the year in Pitt's 10-6 triumph over Rider...worked six innings and gave up two runs, striking out five and walking one. JUNIOR (2003): Barnyak pitched a career-high 60 innings tying him for second on the team...earned first win of the season when he struck out two in 1.2 innings of relief work against Niagara (March 16)...earned fourth win of the season when he pitched a season-high 8.1 innings and struck out six West Virginia hitters on April 6...struck out a season-best nine batters at Georgetown (April 19) in seven innings of work to improve to 5-0... posted a record of 5-2...established a career-high for wins in a season (5), strike outs (46) and appearances (21)...surrendered a career-low 17 walks...second on team with a .714 winning percentage...started a career-high seven games...ranked second on the team with three saves, also a career-best...posted an ERA of 5.10...held opponents to a .284 batting average. SOPHOMORE (2002): Barnyak finished the year with an unblemished record of 3-0 and an earned run average of 4.37, which ranked second on the team...pitched 45.1 innings and struck out 40 batters, both career highs...was third on the team in appearances (16) and started one game (Holy Cross, March 3)...tallied his first win of the season against Fairfield, working four innings while striking out a career-high six batters and allowing just one run...picked up two victories against Cleveland State on the year...in four innings of relief work on April 2, notched the victory while scattering five hits and striking out four Vikings...in the second contest (May 7), which was played at Jacobs Field, had one of his best outings as he pitched six innings and gave up just two hits and no runs while striking out five Cleveland State hitters...in 1.2 innings of relief against Canisius (May 1), allowed no hits and no runs on his way to his first career save. FRESHMAN (2001): Barnyak proved to be a solid pitcher for the Panthers in his first season...made 12 appearances on the year, which was tied for second on the team, and started six contests...finished the season with a 2-5 record...notched first victory of his career in his debut against Holy Cross...pitched five innings and surrendered three runs in the triumph...picked up his second win versus Canisius, a 7-5 complete-game victory...in seven innings, struck out a then-career-high five batters while scattering eight hits.
