SOPHOMORE (2002): Barnyak finished the year with an unblemished record of 3-0 and an earned run average of 4.37, which ranked second on the team...pitched 45.1 innings and struck out 40 batters, both career highs...was third on the team in appearances (16) and started one game (Holy Cross, March 3)...tallied his first win of the season against Fairfield, working four innings while striking out a career-high six batters and allowing just one run...picked up two victories against Cleveland State on the four innings of relief work on April 2, notched the victory while scattering five hits and striking out four the second contest (May 7), which was played at Jacobs Field, had one of his best outings as he pitched six innings and gave up just two hits and no runs while striking out five Cleveland State 1.2 innings of relief against Canisius (May 1), allowed no hits and no runs on his way to his first career save. FRESHMAN (2001): Barnyak proved to be a solid pitcher for the Panthers in his first season...made 12 appearances on the year, which was tied for second on the team, and started six contests...finished the season with a 2-5 record...notched first victory of his career in his debut against Holy Cross...pitched five innings and surrendered three runs in the triumph...picked up his second win versus Canisius, a 7-5 complete-game seven innings, struck out a then-career-high five batters while scattering eight hits.
