SOPHOMORE (2009)
Joe Leonard made 42 starts for the Panthers in 2009 and was a strong point in the Panthers' batting order...was second on the team in RBI with 35...went 3-for-4, scored four runs and batted in three against Notre Dame on March 28...was third on the team with 54 hits including nine doubles and a .480 slugging percentage...went 3-for-5 against West Virginia with a walk and three RBI...also pitched in six games for the Panthers earning two saves and allowing just seven hits in eight innings on the hill.

FRESHMAN (2008)
Leonard started in 52 games during his true freshman season...had a team leading .335 batting average in 203 at bats, posting 68 hits including 12 doubles and seven home runs...had 23 multi-hit games, including four hits on three occasions, at Maryland-Eastern Shore Feb. 29, against Penn, March 13 and against Connecticut, May 15 in the season finale...finished second on the team in hits (68), total bases (101), slugging percentage (.498), runs (42) and doubles (12) and third in RBI (37)...carried a .973 fielding percentage, committing just four errors on the year with 38 putouts and 104 assists...was successful on three of four stolen base attempts...pitched in four games, sacrificing only two hits, while striking out two batters... recorded a season high eight assists on May 4 at Villanova...went 4-5 with four RBI and recorded his first home run of the season in a March 13 victory over Penn.

HIGH SCHOOL
Leonard was a four-year letterman at Conellsville High School...batted above .400 every season with a career average of .449...posted a career-high .500 average as a senior with six homeruns and 15 doubles...made just two errors in 100 attempts that season as well...helped team to a 54-28 record over four seasons...played for the Pittsburgh Bulldogs for a season, batting .586...was a four-year all-county and all-section selection....named a "Top Player to Watch" by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette...also played for the Allegheny Pirates and was invited to the East Coast Professional Showcase...was also a member of the Conellsville High School basketball team.

Son of John and Rebecca Leonard...father, John was a first-round draft pick by the Orioles...has three brothers, Ty (26), Zach (24) and Johnny (16) and one sister, Lynnsy (13)...a sociology major.
