SOPHOMORE (2005): Billy Muldowney made quite an impression in his first season with the Panthers, serving as the team's ace...won a team-high-tying seven games, sporting a 7-3 record with a 2.47 ERA...earned All-Big East Second Team honors for his efforts...struck out a team-best 89 batters in 83.2 innings, allowing just 19 walks...started and appeared in 12 games on the mound, with a shutout and seven complete games...won all seven of his games in Big East play, ranking among the conference's best in wins, strikeouts, innings pitched and complete games...notched his first career win in the Big East opener vs. Seton Hall, striking out a season-high-tying 12 battes in a complete game win...added 12 strikeouts in 6.1 innings in the regular-season finale win against Georgetown...posted 11 strikeouts in a 6-5 win over West Virginia...threw a complete-game victory vs. Boston College, allowing seven hits and striking out seven one of his first appearances, allowed just one hit and one unearned run in six innings vs. Temple, striking out nine without a walk...struck out 10 Hurricane batters in seven innings in a tough loss to No. 6 Miami...also hit .220 with nine hits, including two home runs, as a designated hitter, earning 12 bases on balls for a .407 on-base percentage.
